A Cape Point Day Journey
Into the inner and outer landscapes of being a man.
Cape Point is wild, beautiful and remarkably diverse.
Within a relatively small area are mountain ridges, fynbos slopes, windswept dunes, wetlands and wild coastline—each landscape offering a different experience of the natural world.
The Inner Wild is an invitation for men to explore these landscapes while paying attention to the landscapes within themselves.
Come as an individual, or gather your own group of up to eight men.
We will follow the natural unfolding of the day, responding to the land, weather, animals and changing conditions rather than imposing a rigid agenda.
Along the way, we explore traditional masculine arts including:
- Tracking and reading the landscape
- Original fire-making
- Bushcraft
- Practical plant knowledge
- The human story of the Cape
- Flora, fauna and geology
- Time for solitude, reflection and conversation
- Walking, wandering and, weather permitting, a wild swim
There will be opportunities to share stories and experiences, but also to be quiet.
To walk without talking.
To observe.
To listen.
To notice what happens when we change our environment—and what the landscape might reveal about the way we move through our own lives.
This is not about having all the answers.
It is an opportunity to meet the outer terrain and the inner landscape with curiosity, courage and presence.
